With the internet invading both home and work place, the phenomena of employees surfing on the internet during their work have always haunted the supervisors. It has triggered a lot of controversial issues: whether should the internet surfing be monitored? How to achieve it? Many people argue that the employee monitoring is actually invading the employees’ privacy. As far as I’m concerned, in terms of avoiding this kind of problems the monitoring is essential.
Actually, in some fields, employees may have access to the confidential information, which are crucially associated with the interests and developments of the enterprises. On the other hand, from the prospect of the employees, the company hopes that the employers can work efficiently. Besides, they also want to get knowledge of what they are doing and well manage the human resource, which also includes the working time of the employers. Under the circumstance, the enterprises have to put a great emphasis on the monitoring within the company.
Thus, many ways has invented to monitor the employers, such as video cameras installed at the work place, the keylogger software preset in the computers of company. Instead of being an invader, I think those measures serve as a spur to high efficiency of work during working hours. But one thing should be kept in mind, which is that the companies should inform the employees that their actions on the internet are being monitored. When they have the awareness that they should work at their best efficiency, and if they do their own stuff or something that is detrimental to the company, they will be caught in the act. Thus it is evident that the employee monitoring (Even a fake one!) will bring a lot of benefits to the management of company.
In all, I recommend that companies install devices to monitor its employees, which is really not an invading provided that they have been informed beforehand. Every employees should be aware that you who are working for the company are supposed to devote all your efforts to the work during working hours.
