* Compatible with Windows 8 (8.1)
Previous versions can be used on Windows 8. However, we initially received reports of some compatibility issues using Windows 8.1. We found the problems and fixed them in AthTek Skype Recorder v6.11.

* “Send notification to contact” is the Default setting
AthTek Skype Recorder defaults to automatic notification of your contact when you start recording a Skype call. Call recording without permission is illegal in some countries and regions, so default auto notification in AthTek Skype Recorder v6.11 provides risk free recording of your Skype calls. This default notification can be enabled/disabled and edited in Advanced Settings.

* You can alter the dimensions of video call recording
AthTek Skype Recorder v6.11 lets you resize the video recording. This helps to lower the file size and provides a customized video feed. This new option is in Video Settings.

* Supports uploading recordings via SFTP
Some power users and business users especially need to be able to upload Skype call recordings to web servers safely and automatically. AthTek Skype Recorder v6.11 supports SFTP for uploading recordings. This has greatly enhanced the security of data transmission.

* Optimizes program translations;

* Removes non-Skype recording
Useless functions such as non-Skype recording has been removed. However, if you still like this function, you can install an older version of AthTek Skype Recorder and discard the free update. Also you can just use Window voice recorder instead.

Skype has announced that they will stop Desktop API in December 2013 and all the 3rd-party applications will cease to work by then. We have contacted Skype about this and hope they could extend Skype Desktop API. It seems that our efforts took effect! What’s New?
* This version doesn’t require Skype Desktop APIs;
As we have mentioned before, Skype announced that they will stop Desktop APIs which 3rd-party developers used for creating applications. We have to find a way to continue the project of AthTek Skype Recorder. Fortunately, we already found it. Meanwhile, Skype Desktop APIs still exists in Skype v6.8 or older. If you don’t want to use this new Skype Recorder, you need to downgrade your Skype to v6.8 and then you would be able to continuously use AthTek Skype Recorder for high quality Skype call recording.

* Supports to add watermark to video recordings;
The new version supports to add watermark to the video recordings. You can add text watermark or graphical watermark to the video call you are going to record.

* Simplify the recording and registration process;
The new AthTek Skype Recorder doesn’t require a Skype connection anymore. If you have ever used the previous version, you would probably know that when you run the Skype recorder for the first time, you will be asked to allow its access on Skype. When it doesn’t require Skype Desktop APIs, it doesn’t need to connect Skype anymore.

* Optimize the translations.
We have optimized the translations on new AthTek Skype Recorder. For example, “Silent Mode” has been renamed as “Hide Mode”. Many ambiguities have been removed from the translation.

When you upgrade to Skype 6.9, you will be seeing a message in Skype letting you know that Skype will stop 3rd party applications to access Skype. A warning message pop up “We want to let you know that your XXX.exe app will stop working with Skype starting in December 2013. Does this mean we cannot use AthTek Skype Recorder and Skype Voice Changer anymore since December 2013?

Nope, we won’t close the projects for these two programs and you can still use AthTek Skype Recorder and Skype Voice Changer after December 2013! The message shows that Skype will stop desktop APIs by the end of 2013. Most of the apps are built by desktop APIs and that is why Skype said that our app will stop working by then. But Skype will use URIs to take place of desktop APIs, we can definitely continue the Skype recorder and voice changer projects with URIs. We have already got ready for this change and once the desktop APIs expired, we will release the new versions of AthTek Skype recorder and voice changer.

So, how to against the popup warning by Skype? As of Skype 6.11 the Desktop API will be physically removed from the Skype application. For the time being we strongly recommend to downgrade back to Skype 6.8 until we see how this plays out. (Download Skype 6.8 Now). Please also turn off Skype automatic updates to prevent the warning message popup. Open Skype > Tools > Options… > Advanced > Automatic Updates > Turn off automatic updates, then the warning message will be prevented.
