But not all the Skype calls need to be recorded. If we have many Skype calls every day, it will waste a lot of disk space to save those useless recordings. In this article, you will learn how to record Skype call from specific contacts automatically. You can make an auto-record list to exclude those Skype contacts you don’t want to record. Here on arturoherrera you can find tutorial on how to use skype.


Please go to [Tools] > [Options…] > [Auto-record List], and you will see all the Skype contacts are in Auto-record List as default.

Now you can delete the contacts which you don’t want to record Skype calls from them. Simply select multiple contacts and then click Delete to do that. If you don’t want to record Skype calls from people who are not your contacts, please uncheck the option of “Auto Record Unknown Contacts”.

Press OK to save the settings. Now, only the Skype calls from listed contacts will be recorded and saved automatically. If you want to get the default settings back, simply press the button Add All and all the contacts will be added to Auto-record List.

We have received some reports about this issue and have tested both AthTek Skype Recorder and Skype Voice Changer on the new Skype v6.22. We found that our applications for Skype cannot work on Skype v6.22. Please downgrade your Skype to v6.21 (free download) and you would be able to use both AthTek Skype Recorder and Skype Voice Changer again on any older version Skype. We are still looking for a solution to this issue and hope to release the compatible versions in a few days.

How to downgrade Skype to V6.21?

Step.1 Uninstall Skype v6.22. Please go to [Start] > [Control Panel] > [Programs and Features]. Find Skype v6.22 and select to uninstall.

Step.2 Download and install Skype 6.21. Please click to download Skype v6.21 and install it to your computer.

Step.3 Run AthTek Skype Recorder or Skype Voice Changer and you will be able to use any of them on Skype 6.21 without problem.

Basically, you need to fill in the web server’s address, port, FTP account username and password, then you would be able to upload the Skype call recordings directly by AthTek Skype Recorder. Sometimes business user has higher security requirements in uploading files. They can use encryption mode to upload files safely. They can also use an FTP proxy to hide the real address. If you have no idea about these options, please leave them as default. It is recommended to test the FTP connection after configuration.
